Good Luck Jodie Meeks

The news that all UK fans have dreaded broke today. Jodie Meeks is pursuing his life long dream of playing in the NBA instead of returning for a national title run with UK. While most of us hate to see him go, it brings up a very good question. If we as fans were in his shoes, what would we do?

While playing for UK is the dream of every Kentucky boy, if we were looking at least a six figure salary in the eyes most of us would make the same decision. An argument can be made that he may not get drafted in the NBA, but even if that happens surely the worst he can do is go overseas and play professionally. The foreign professional leagues pay very well also.

Playing professionally for a couple of years quite possibly will pay Jodie more than what most people make in working a thirty to thirty five year career. When looking at his decision from this standpoint, it is very clear why he chose to pursue his lifelong dream of playing professional basketball.

Good Luck Jodie. We will be watching!

Please let me know what you feel about this subject!

  1. I believe he would have served better to have came back as far as money is concerned. I have attached a mock draft and you can see he is not in the first round. But it is a mock, maybe we will get suprised, look at the former players who left early and where are they now?
